MUSC Identity Management System - Login Help

  1. I am new to MUSC and have been assigned a NetID. What do I do next?
    • You must click the Change password link, review MUSC’s Computer Use Policy, and change your password. This step is mandatory. You cannot access any MUSC information technology resource without acknowledging your understanding of and agreement to adhere to the Computer Use Policy, and changing your password.

  2. What do I need to access any of these links?
    1. To access Change password or Reset Security Questions, you need your NetID and your password.
    2. To access Forgot password, you need your NetID and the answers to at least three of your security questions.

  3. What if I forgot where to pick up my password?
    • You should contact your registration authority – usually your Human Resources department, your college or program coordinator, or your sponsor – who can tell you the delivery mechanism and location selected.

  4. Do I need to set/reset Security Questions?

  5. No. This is optional but highly recommended. You do not need to answer all ten questions but should answer at least five. When answering the questions, please remember:
    1. The answer should be easy for you to remember but not easy to discover by others. As an example, if you post regularly about visiting your mother’s hometown, you should probably not answer a question about her birthplace.
    2. You cannot repeat answers.
    3. The answer should be a fixed response. If you are an experimental eater, for example, the answer to a question about your favorite meal might change in a few months.

  6. Why should I set/reset my Security Questions?
    1. In case you forget your password, you will be able to change it by yourself without having to visit a password reset location.
    2. You need to remember the answers to the security questions you choose in order to self-reset your password.

  7. What if I forgot my password?

  8. You have 2 options:
    1. If you have set your security questions, you can click the Forgot password to reset your password. You need to know the answers to at least three of your security questions.
    2. If you have not set your security questions, or have forgotten them as well, you must you go to one of the following locations:
      • Medical Center Security Desk, 1st floor lobby North Tower (Sat-Sun, 24 hrs.)
      • Library Systems Office, 4th floor Education Center/Library (Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm)
      • OCIO Information Services, 2nd floor Harborview Office Tower (Mon-Fri, 8:30am-5pm)

You MUST present your MUSC ID badge when requesting a password change. Password changes will NOT be handled over the phone. Please note: the actual update process runs every 30 minutes, on the hour and the half hour; therefore, when you (re)activate the account, there will be a delay before you can use the account.
